This Privacy Policy describes how The Fairway Report (“we,” “us,” or “the Service”) collects, uses, shares, and retains information when you use our website and mobile app. The Fairway Report is a community-driven platform where golfers view and share real-time golf course conditions.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and the display name you choose. Your email authenticates you and, if you enable notifications, is used to send condition alerts. Your display name is shown to other golfers alongside your reports and in the golfer community.
Location: When you grant permission, we use your device’s approximate location to find golf courses near you. Location is requested only with your consent and is used on your device to sort and display nearby courses.
Condition reports: The ratings, quick tags, comments, and optional photos you submit are stored as condition reports associated with your account and the course you reported on.
Uploaded photos: Photos you attach to a report are uploaded to private storage and reviewed by an administrator before being published. Approved photos become publicly visible on the relevant course page.
Usage and analytics: We use the platform’s analytics to understand how the app is used (for example, which features are tapped). This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Technical data: Our hosting platform may automatically log standard technical data such as device type and request timestamps for security and reliability.

2. How We Use Your Information

To display course conditions and your reports to you and the community.
To match you with golf courses near your location.
To send in-app and, if enabled, email notifications when a favorited course’s condition changes.
To moderate uploaded photos before publication.
To maintain and improve the Service.
To communicate with you about your account.

3. How We Share Your Information

Public content: Condition reports (ratings, tags, comments) and approved photos are visible to all users. Your display name appears with your reports and in the golfer community.
Follows: Other users can follow you and see your public report activity.
Service providers: We rely on the Base44 platform for hosting, authentication, data storage, and email delivery. These providers process data on our behalf solely to operate the Service.
Legal: We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Condition reports contribute to a course’s current average for 30 days, then remain available as historical entries and no longer affect current conditions. You can delete reports at any time.
You can delete individual reports at any time from your Dashboard.
You can permanently delete your account and associated data (reports, favorites, follows, notification preferences, and display name) at any time from Profile → Delete account. This action cannot be undone.
Pending or rejected photos that are not approved are never published publicly.

5. Your Rights

You may access, correct, or delete the personal information you provide by editing your profile, managing your reports, or deleting your account. To request further assistance, contact us at contact@thefairwayreport.us.

6. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure. Authentication tokens and passwords are managed by the platform’s authentication service.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page.
